Home on leave. After this I was stationed at Camp LeJune and served as a combat field medic with the Fleet Marines/New River Air Station/Marine Aircraft Group 26 (MAG-26). 73'.
Dale Zeigfreid on steel guitar. Dale and I worked together with a lot of acts over the years. He had been with DAC for a couple of years before I came on board and he helped me a lot, learning the ropes of touring. There was no YouTube or internet then. If you needed to learn a song you had to go to the record store and buy the single or album. I have some stories about not being prepared when I first started with David. Dale saved my butt more than once.
Bobby B's Whiskey River, Ft Lauderdale Fl. Bobby had money to burn and he decided to open a venue that featured great food and great entertainment. We also had an awesome band house on the intercostal water way, and an old Owens Cabin Cruiser which we sunk (All Wendel) after the tied came in and Wendel thought we could clear one of the intercostal bridges. We did not clear the bridge and it nearly tore off the captains wheel house and we were wedged under the bridge as the tied kept rising. Those were the days! I have picture of that boat somewhere
Played a house gig with Wendel Adkins when we weren't on tour at Bobby B's in Ft. Lauderdale. Around 1980 I think. With Dale Zeigfreid, Rob, Yoyo and Randy Keys.
DAC, Mater, Meme Coe, Darty. David had 2 semi's. One carried all the music gear and the other carried motorcycles. Also 2 Silver Eagle buses. One for David and his wives, the other for the band. Most of the time the roadies drove the semi's, Limo's and vans. Dale and I took turns driving the band bus.
